Considering a trip to Costa Rica? Prepare yourself for beautiful landscapes, gracious hosts, relaxing sounds of nature, and beaches that resemble paradise. For those itching to explore, welcome to Costa Rica, one of the cleanest, greenest, and most tranquil travel destinations on earth.

There is beauty and adventure at every corner of this small but diverse country, from its lush tropical forests to its infinite coasts. Are you still in doubt? Here are five reasons to put Costa Rica at the top of your list of places to visit.

Biodiversity

Despite making up only 0.03% of the planet's surface, Costa Rica is home to about 6% of the world's biodiversity. The nation's varied topography—which includes Pacific and Caribbean coasts—as well as its mountain ranges produce a variety of microclimates that are home to an astounding array of diverse life.

Beaches, national parks, volcanoes

The Pacific and Caribbean beaches of Costa Rica provide a remarkable diversity of beach experiences, with each having a distinct charm of its own. The Caribbean Coast offers a more relaxed vibe with lots of greenery and calmer beaches, while the Pacific Coast is renowned for its stunning sunsets, rocky shorelines, and abundant marine life.  Beaches, volcanic regions, and rainforests are preserved on more than 25% of the country's land area, each or which provides a distinctive experience.

Climate

The rainy season (May to December) and the dry season (January to April) are the two main seasons in Costa Rica. Travelers from cooler climates, such as those in Europe, the USA, and Canada, prefer to travel during the dry season. The driest months on the Caribbean side are February/March and September/October, but it's crucial to remember that the dry season begins earlier on the Pacific Coast, usually around December. If you don't mind an occasional downpour, visiting during the rainy or "green" season has many benefits, including reduced crowds and better accommodation and tour prices.

Safety

Costa Rica is known for its peaceful history and devotion to safety, making it an appealing location for tourists. The nation made a major choice to disband the army in 1948 and allocate money instead to environmental protection, healthcare, and education. Because of this bold decision, Costa Rica is now among the most peaceful and stable countries in the region.

The environment in Costa Rica is welcoming and safe for visitors. The  "Ticos (male) & Ticas (female)," are always prepared to share their culture and put guests at ease. Although you should always be aware of your surroundings when travelling, Costa Rica is regarded to be one of the safest countries in Central America, making it a great place for families, adventurers, and solo travellers alike.

Adventure

Offering an extensive variety of exhilarating sports against the breathtaking backdrops of its national parks and protected regions, Costa Rica is an adventure lover's dream come true. There is something for every adrenaline seeker, whether it be ziplining over the canopy of the Arenal Volcano National Park, surfing the Pacific waves close to Santa Rosa National Park, or rafting down the untamed rivers Sarapiqui and Pacuare among others.

For a more leisurely experience, Costa Rica's national parks provide wonderful hiking routes. Some examples of these include the beautiful pathways in Corcovado National Park, which gives views of a wide variety of creatures, and the tranquil beauty of Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, which is a great place to go birdwatching.  Observation of giant sea turtles coming on land to lay their eggs or majestic whales on the Pacific Coast are magical experiences that will stay with you forever.
